No Room in the Barn

My son had a new take on the traditional “no room at the Inn” part of the nativity story..

He created a “no room in the stable” scenario that was quite humorous…

The funnest part was trying to get all the animals to come back out of the barn….

A Long Needed Vacation

Bloged in James, Kids by James Tuesday January 5, 2010

In the construction industry this has been a year of cut backs, and I have found myself wearing sooooo many hats at the company I work for that I often get confused about which hat I should be wearing when… That aside I am grateful to be employed and for the lessons I have learned about dealing slow economic times.

With Christmas and New Years falling as they did this year we were able to take a 10 day vacation to visit my parents in South Eastern Washington… It was great to get away from it all and just relax for a few days. It was also wonderful to get to spend some much needed one on one time with our children.

Over the next few days I will be posting some pictures from the trip…

Enjoy….

The living room part 2

Bloged in James by James Wednesday September 30, 2009

Here are the results of our living room makeover.

after

Now for the story. About 2 years ago, I did some trade work with an aquaintance of mine. He never delivered on his end of the bargin and our living room shelves were never built. This has annoyed me for the last few months. I then stumbled across a quote from an unknown author that said: “I must do something.” always solves more problems than: “Something must be done.” It struck a nerve and moved me to action.

For 2 years Tina and I have been stating something must be done, and we have went as far as we could to be the squeaky wheel and encourage that other party to follow through.

After reading the above mentioned quote, I realized that I could make a difference if I would just change my perspective. I started planning what was needed and envisioning it in my head and on paper. Soon after doing this I was guided to find the parts I needed to completely build the project and as a bonus they were even on sale and fit my limited budget. Amazingly in one evening my 4 “apprentices” and I had the shelves in place and later the next day we had the boxes all unpacked and have been enjoying having easy access to our “library” and a clutter free living room.

It is so cool when the Lord helps to guide you in reaching your goals. He will help you when you listen, and look for alternative ways to solve your problems, instead of just blaming others’ faults for the lack of meeting your goals.

On a larger scale, I have wondered a lot lately what would happen here in our country if we each would start to do the little things we must do to take personal responsibility for the state we are in, instead of just sitting around saying “something must be done” and then complaining when it isn’t done right.

Our Living room..

Bloged in James by James Tuesday September 29, 2009

For the last several months our living room has been filled with boxes of books. Work and other “emergencies” have kept me from being able to make a better setting then this.
before
In fact, one acquaintance ask me when we were moving, because of the boxes.

Anyway this weekend, it has all changed.

Stay tuned more to come….
